The walk to Scott’s Saddle goes through parts of the Mt Hutt Forest and the Awa Awa Rata Reserve, remnants of forests that once covered much of the foothills and the plains.

The track to the saddle is rated as “Moderate”, and the total walking time should be about 4 hours.

There are several rest spots and vantage points along the way, from where good views over the Canterbury Plains and to the Port Hills are obtained.
