Mt Barossa – December 2022

An enjoyable day walk up Mt Barrosa 1364m was shared by Dorothy, Juliet and myself Catherine. Starting by the roadside carpark and following poles up the DOC easement. Initially it climbs up quite steeply and you soon start gaining some good views of the surrounding countryside and mountains.
The breeze was coolish if you stopped too long. We followed the poled route up to the top, passing a few rocky outcrops. The celmisias weren’t quite out, whereas the spaniards were out in flower.
Cloud came in intermittently to hide the view at times.
We enjoyed lunch at the top and were lucky to enjoy the views as the cloud had lifted. Here we enjoyed views out to Lake Herron, and Lake Emma and the Arrowsmiths .
We met another couple who had walked up with a small dog.
After lunch we returned down the same way and were back at the car by 3pm.
A great day walk and not too far from home.
Thanks Dorothy and Juliet for your company.
