The four of us left timaru not long after 7am on the Saturday morning with a good story or two along the way. Upon reaching the Lake Heron carpark we were blessed with relatively good weather besides a cool breeze at times.
The walk into Manuka Hut was relatively easy (16.5 kms in around 4.5 hours of walking time) with a nice stop for lunch along the way at Double Hut.
A quiet walk out the following day was meet with an enjoyable stop at Mayfield for a hot chocolate and bite to eat.
