Mt Alford (1171 metres) is between Mt Somers and Mt Hutt.

The walk is 4.6 km each way and takes 4 to 5 hours return. It is initially through bush, then through tussock and subalpine vegetation to the top. From the summit you should get good views over the plains and inland towards other mountains.
