This hut is up past the top end of Lake Ohau, and is situated in the valley to the south of the Ohau Ski Field.  It is about 10 km to the hut from the road, taking around 4 to 5 hours. The first part of the track is across private land.  Permission, which has been obtained, is needed to use this part of the track.

The hut has four bunks. A standard, blue Adult ($10) DoC Hut Ticket, or an Annual Hut Pass if you have one, will be required.  Tickets are available locally – from memory, from Macpac, Kathmandu and the Timaru Visitor Centre.  Tents will be taken in case the hut is already full.
