Gunns Bush is located 10 km northwest of Waimate in the Hunters Hills area.  From the end of Gunns Bush Road the track through the native bush follows a stream and does a small loop before returning the same way.  In many places the forest floor is carpeted with green moss helping make this a short but enjoyable 5 kilometre walk taking about 1.5 hours.

Kelceys Bush is also just a few kilometres northwest of Waimate, and about 5 km south of Gunns Bush. Two short walks are available here: one of about 20 minutes to a viewpoint, and another of about 40 minutes following the creek up the valley to the site of the water intake for Waimate’s first water supply.
