This trip was cancelled, due to unfavourable weather conditions.  It will be run at another date (not yet set).

Casey Hut is a 12 bunk serviced hut, accessed from Andrews Shelter either by Andrews Stream and Casey Saddle or via Binser Saddle and the Poulter River. According to DoC it takes 6 to 8 hours to get to the hut via Andrews Stream, so a good level of fitness will be required. The exact route taken will be decided on the day, depending on the conditions at the time.

The hut was opened in 2020, thanks to a generous donation by one of our Life Members, and replaces one burnt down in 2015. Bookings are not required, but as it is a “Serviced” hut, the appropriate hut tickets or passes must be taken.

Given the nature of the area this trip will be weather-dependent, so will only go ahead if conditions are favourable.
