Mt Studholme Sunday 24th November
Leaving Timaru at 8am on a misty Sunday morning with promise of the cloud to break and a sunny day Christine, Michelle and Barry drove up to the woolshed on the Mt Studholme Rd a 4wd road which travels all the way to the top of Mt Studohme transmitter Station and Cell Site. Barry enjoyed the drive in his new wheels and was impressed with its performance for this part of the road trip up as far as the woolshed. Walking from the woolshed it was a steady upwards walk on the 4wd track. We were lucky enough to be in the sun most of the day until returning downwards when around halfway we walked into the cloud which sat there all day. We had great views over the blanketed with cloud east coastline, still stunning with the days weather conditions, and for us the pleasure to be above it all in the sun. In the other direction views towards the Waitaki Valley and western ranges. Mt Studholme highest point at approx. 1100metres. A popular area for hunters with a consistent population of wallabies in the main. We also noted the ridge track that continued onward to Mt Blyth and exit to Waiho River Track. All in all a great day out. Thanks to Barry for organising and driving us for the day. Home for 3.15pm
