Mystery Lake is in the Ashburton Lakes area. There are a number of ways to get to the lake, but this trip will be an out and back one from the Potts River carpark, after leaving town around 7:00 am.

The total walking distance will be 18 km, and there will be about 5.5 hours walking.  A moderate level of fitness will be required.
