DESCRIPTION:Note:  This trip has been cancelled\, due to problems with the water supplies in the areas to be visited. \n(An outline of what was planned is given below.) \nGlenorchy Area\, early November\, approximately 6 to 12 November (but dates to be confirmed).\nGrade: Moderate\nI am keen to go back into the Whakaari conservation area and do some more exploring as we were unable to complete it all due to the weather last time.\nExploring more across the Buckler Burn and McIntosh and McIntyre Loop.  Also\, there are options of various day trips (e.g. Glacier Burn walk).\nI am also happy to go back into Bonny Jean and Heather Jock Hut area\, as it was an interesting area with quaint huts.\nPlenty of options and ways to fill in several days.  Further details later.\nTrip Organiser: Catherine 027 7163518

SUMMARY:November Club Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our November meeting will be held on Monday 13 November\, starting at 7:30 pm at our usual venue: Church Street Bible Chapel Hall\, corner Church Street and Avenue Road\, Timaru. All are welcome to attend! \nThis month our guest speaker is Jan Finlayson from the Federated Mountain Clubs of NZ. Jan is on FMC’s executive committee and is a former FMC President. She will be giving us an update on FMC’s activities and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. As the club is affiliated to FMC\, all club members are also members of FMC\, so Jan’s talk is sure to be of interest to you all. \nAs usual we will have a round up of what’s been and what’s coming up\, and a tea or coffee afterwards for those who want it.

SUMMARY:River Crossing Exercise (Pleasant Point area): Day Event
DESCRIPTION:We will be having a river crossing exercise and training session on Saturday 18 November in the Opihi River near Pleasant Point. This will be a great chance to learn how to safely cross (or not cross\, as the case may be) a river either alone or in the company of others. Be prepared to get your feet wet if you come along. SUMMARY:Waimate Big Easy: Day Trip (New Date)
DESCRIPTION:Note: This trip was originally scheduled for October\, but was postponed.  It will now take place on Saturday 25 November 2023. \nAn easy three to four hour walk\, starting at Te Kiteroa and climbing up to the White Horse monument\, where we can view the renovation of the site and also obtain good views of the local area and the Canterbury Plains. The walk back to the starting point will be via the “Big Easy” trail. \nThis will be a great walk for beginners and anyone else wanting to stretch their legs a bit. \nGrade: Easy \nTrip Organiser: Wayne 027 9206638
