SUMMARY:Woolshed Creek - Day Trip
DESCRIPTION:Hazel will be taking this trip\, and has supplied the following information … \nThis is the first hut encountered on the Mt Somers walkway if you start from the southern end.\nWalk in via the Miners Track\, which goes up to the old Blackburn mine\, and then follows along above the gorge before dropping down to the hut for lunch.  This will take about 2 to 3 hours.\nReturn by coming back on the other side of the river.  From the hut\, climb up to the Bus Stop overhang\, then across the face of Mt Somers before descending Rhyolite Ridge back to the carpark.  This part will take around 3+ hours. \nGrade: Moderate

DESCRIPTION:Our monthly meeting will be held on Monday 10 October at the usual venue (Church Street Bible Chapel Hall\, corner Church Street and Avenue Road\, Timaru) starting at 7:30 pm.  All welcome! \nOne of our members\, Jenny\, will tell us about a Heritage Expedition trip she went on from Bluff to Snares Island\, Auckland Island\, Enderby Island and Campbell Island – those places that we sometimes hear about but don’t really know much about. Come along and hear about the wildlife and scenery of these remote places\, and get tips on how to retain your meal when confronted by huge seas! \nAs usual\, we will also have a round-up of what’s been going on and what’s coming up – and maybe a cup of tea or coffee afterwards!

DESCRIPTION:NOTE: This trip has been cancelled.  It has been replaced by a trip to Casey Hut. \nCatherine will be running this trip and has provided the following information: \nThis will be a trip of several days in the Macetown area.\nWe will base ourselves in the Macetown historic recreation area where we will camp\, and do a day walk to the Homeward stamper battery\, plus various other walks to look at historic sites.  There will probably also be a walk to Roses hut on the Motatapu track\, with an overnight stay there\, then walk back out the next day (10 km each way).\nIf you are interested contact Catherine as soon as possible. Numbers need to be confirmed by early October so a 4WD shuttle can be booked for the drive into Macetown.
